Default ThunderCats Magazines Review Thread

I thought I'd give a closer look at the ThunderCats Magazines! The magazine is published every four weeks by Panini Comics and is only available at newsagents and supermarkets in the United Kingdom.

First off, ThunderCats Magazine Issue 001

I'm not gonna spoil the main 13 page story/comic 'Safe Haven', but there is a lot more to this magazine.

Every issue of the magazine comes with a free gift; the first one being the Sword of Omens! Well, kinda...

For some (legal?) reason the Sword doesn't look much like the "real" Sword of Omens, but it's a cool (free) item. It has its own packadging, which is kinda cool. It comes with 5 orange disks which can be loaded into the sword and "fired" from the front. Why they chose to make it a GREEN sword is beyond me... and ofcourse, the sculpted details on the back are not painted.

So, the cover features art that was also used on the cards and boxes of the (new) BanDai toy line. Actually, the magazine is filled with this art, even a dubble sided poster!

I wont spoil what's on the other side The magazine also contains "facts" pages. This issue has one about the ThunderTank and something called "Legends of ThunDera" featuring Lion-O.

Although the main comic/story isn't, the other features in this magazine are clearly aimed at a younger audience with puzzles, something called Scratching Post where you can send in your best ThunderCats art and contests were you can win BanDai toys! Thats old-school yo!

And ofcourse a tiny preview of next month's issue's free gift: the Thunder Bow!

So that's about it for ThunderCats Magazine - Issue 001. I didn't cover everything, there are more pages like "Meet The ThunderCats" and other stuff like that.

And don't forget the main 13 page comic/story 'Safe Haven' which is very well done and feels like part of the journey that's been started in the animated show!

All in all, I think this is awesome! If you can get it, get it! At GBP 2.99 it's not expensive and well worth it!

Issue 002 will be on sale from all good supermarkets and newsagents on april 19th!

All it needs is a Doctor Who and you'd have kids and older fans jumping up the walls in excitement.

Cool, thanks for sharing TRG. I wasn't that interested about the magazine before when it was announced, but after seeing your look inside I think I might pick up at least the first issue. If I can find it.

(Although the Thunder Bow actually looks kinda fun :P )

That there's another issue of Panini's ThunderCats Magazine coming up this month is a nice thing.

I just ordered this from somewhere in the UK on ebay. Loved the old magazine but this one looks so much better. No stories of nature turtles and other nonsensicle stuff, just 100% Thundercats! Oh and I love the free toy sword, can't wait for the bow, and wonder what's next!!

The ThunderBow would come in handy for another ThunderCat.
