The appearance of another tank has piqued my interest even more. Did Mumm-Ra have a tank in ToS?

No. In the old series Mumm-Ra dealt mainly in sorcery. Sometimes he would use the Mutants, the Lunataks, or some other third parties to do his bidding and end up using their tech by proxy. But mainly he used the dark magics granted to him by the Ancient Spirits of Evil. Often he would assume different forms and try to trick the ThunderCats into hurting one another or put them under hypnotic spells.

That's why many people on these boards are haveing a hard time with the new techo savvy Mumm-Ra. The OS Mumm-Ra would transform into his Everliving form and then fly around and levitate all over Third Earth. He would perform arcane occult rituals that would allow him to call forth beings from other times and worlds to do his dirty deeds for him. HachiMan, WizzRa, and the Driller are but a few that I can remember him recruiting. Of course he actually had to trick the noble samurai Hachiman into believing that Lion-O was evil to do it, but I digress.

Fans of the the OS are definitely not used to seeing Mumm-Ra use tech of any kind. I actually like this more cooly sinister techno savvy Mumm-Ra in the context of this new story.

I used to have one of these as a kid. Sure wish I still did. I even built him a shoebox sarcophagus.

Is that really what the Mumm-Ra toy looked like in the 1980's? He looks like Madusa.

"Secret Lever" - HA! Those levers stuck blatantly out of their backs.

Ok, so we're 6 episodes in and Mumm-Ra has...

- Turned a Thunderian General against his species and devised a plot to assassinate the King of Thundera.

- Stabbed Claudus in the back while his children were watching below.

- Tortured Jaga for information.

- Took out every Thundercat in the Tower of Omens and while fighting Lion-O felt it was necessary to torment him mentally as well with the "I know I killed him!" line.

...I like this guy. Alot.

Totally chaotic evil to coin a D&D terminology. This Mumm-Ra has already proven to be far more ruthless than TOS Mumm-Ra.

Tygra uses his invisibility and bolo whip to go directly after Mumm-Ra, the evil being that killed his father.
This is a good shot of his bat wings in flight.

Upon seeing that Lion-O and Tygra were in trouble, Cheetara utilizes her speed to run quickly to the top of the Tower of Omens...

....and manages to connect with Mumm-Ra pretty effectively!

Ultimately Jaga's light causes Mumm-Ra to retreat.

Is it me or did Mumm-Ra seem kind of weak when transformed for the first time inside the Tower of Omens compared to when he completely dominated all of the clerics in the invasion of Thundera? I know he was still able to dominate the Thudnercats but I'm thinking he was holding back so as to not destroy the tower and potentially lose the book.

Classic bad guy with a twist. I'm really digging the antagonist in this series, Mumm-Ra! I'm very curious how Lion-O will be able to handle him now that Jaga has come to what appears to be an unfortunate end.

Not really. The only thing that stopped him from killing Lion-O outright was Jaga's sacrifice. Mumm-Ra didn't want to linger with the other TCs too long as the Book was the only thing he was worried about. He needed it before Lion-O could recover it.
