Masters of the Universe Classics action figures in Photoshop! :)

Hi everyone,

I've recently been trying to teach myself how to use Abobe Photoshop to try and improve my graphic design abilities for the various projects I work on.

Because obviously learning something new can be a bit of a pain, I've tried to think of concepts where I could have fun creating them at the same time as learning - so, given that one of my favourite things at the moment is the new Masters of the Universe Classics toyline being released by Mattel toys, it seemed logical that it should be one of my first subjects!

Now, I must admit I'm slightly self-concious about sharing this, so let me get a couple of excuses in first...

- When I say I've just started using Adobe Photoshop, I mean literally just started using - I'd never touched it prior to about 3 weeks ago...

- This is only the eighth piece I've ever created - so it's all pretty new to me...

- The photograph was shot on a 7-year-old digital camera...

- My copy of Photoshop came free with a piece of computer equipment, and is actually Photoshop Elements rather than full Photoshop - and, it's dated 2001!

So, with all of those excuses out the way, here's the piece:



Hope you guys like it - advice, constructive comments or suggestions are all welcome, but PLEASE be gentle! Hopefully as I do more and more stuff like this my Photoshop skills will improve as I go along.

That looks great! Nothing at all to be self-conscience about. Elements is a good program-it's just PS without all the crap only professional graphic designers use-for the hobbyist, you might say. Go to the library and see if they have Elements for Dummies. It helped me out a TON with CS2.

Good job, Chris, and, hey, don't feel bad. I'm teaching myself Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 and so far I've learned some applications. What I like about the program is that I can make I own brushes, which I can't do in the Paint Shop Pro XII program that I also have.
