The very first ThunderCats comic series was published by Marvel, under their subsidiary brand of Star Comics. Star Comics was basically a line of comic titles, launched by Marvel and aimed at a younger audience than their regular titles, including many TV tie-ins. ThunderCats was arguably one of Star Comics' highest-quality titles, boasting some of Marvel's most experienced and sought-after creative talent. At the forefront of this was comics legend Jim Mooney, an artist whose work dated back to the 1940s - his classic-looking style of artwork would leave a lasting impression on many ThunderCats fans in the 1980s, and it is his art more than anybody's that is showcased here. The series also showcased the talents of several other fan favourite artists, including Jose Delbo and Dwayne Turner, both of whom are also represented here.
