Micheal Jelenic and Dan Norton talk ThunderCats in SciFiNow magazine!

Our friends at SciFi Now magazine have compiled an excellent feature on the ThunderCats brand, covering both the 1980′s classic series and the recent re-imagining! The feature includes interviews with both Micheal Jelenic and Dan Norton, shedding light on the current situation with the new series and the potential for a film. ThunderCats fan favourite voice over actor, Larry Kenney is interviewed as well! So be sure to check it out!

The magazine is out now and should be available at all good newsagents!

Panini ThunderCats magazine issue 11 to be the final issue!

The final issue for Panini’s ThunderCats magazine will be issue 11, which should be available from newsagents on 10th January 2013. Fans familiar with the magazine up til now, will know that the comic strip was dropped in December last year, with issue 10 only including activities and puzzles. Many folks were wondering how much longer the magazine would run for, especially with the new ThunderCats seemingly winding down in the UK with many of the Bandai toys on clearance at places like Home Bargains.

The final issue was meant to include a free Thundertank toy, but it’s unknown if this anticipated toy will be included…. Many thanks to forum member starrcade89 for bringing this news to our attention.

ThunderCats Nintendo DS game and goodies Giveaway #2!

ThunderCats fans, we are now giving you a second chance to win some great prizes courtesy of Bandai with our second competition! The entry is very simple and all that is required is some creativity. What we want to see is your creative works for the ThunderCats, which can include almost anything! For example: Fan Art, Fan Fiction, Fan Videos, Custom figures/sculptures, Toy Collection photos etc…

and there isn’t any need to go and create a brand new piece either for this giveaway if your pushed for time. Existing pieces already on public view are eligable to enter! The competition will be judged upon how creative your piece of work is, so anyone of any skill level has equal chance of winning! You can also enter as many times as you like, so long as we receive a different piece of work for each entry.

To Enter: Simply email us a photo/scan of your entry or include a link to your piece where it’s posted online. Please also include your full name and address details (these are only used to send your prize if your a lucky winner and WILL NOT be passed on to any 3rd parties) You can send your entries to: neil@thundercatslair.org

Entry submissions will close on February 4th 2013, 12am ET, 9pm PT, 5am UK time and 6am European time. The competition is open to anyone worldwide!

ThunderCats DS Video Game Giveaway 1!

The folks at Namco Bandai have been generous enough to send over a few ThunderCats DS games to give out to our forum members (you must join our forums and have an established account). In order to win one of three copies of the game here are the requirements for the first of the giveaways:

Giveaway #1:

-View the official trailer for the game right above on this post, once you watch it the only requirement for it is to post on the forums what you liked about the game the most (from watching the clip), or it could even be anything in general you liked about the clip itself. We’ll do a random drawing for this one. It’s that simple!

Entry submissions will close on January 31st 2013, 12AM Eastern Time, 9pm PT time, 7pm UK time and 8pm European time (now extended from original closing date!) The competition is open to anyone worldwide!

Team members of the site are not allowed to participate in any of the giveaways.

Bandai ThunderCats exclusive 4-pack figure set at Argos in the UK!

Thanks to forum member ThunDagar II, we have learned that Bandai is selling a 4-pack of previously released ThunderCats 4″ figures at Argos. The pack is similiar to the US Target store exclusive ‘Eye of Thundera’ pack, but contains different figures (aside from Snarf)

The re-pack includes the golden Lion-O from the Armor of Omens with both versions of the Sword of Omens and the Claw Shield, Clear Tygra (named as such on the box) sans weaponry from the Tower of Omens playset, wave 2 Mumm-Ra with the folded back wings and Sword of Plundarr and the Snarf, which came with the ThunderTank.

This set is advertised at £24.99, instantly reduced from the £29.99 RRP. The pack should be available in most Argos stores and for home delivery. Check the Argos website out here: Argos Exclusive ThunderCats 4-pack.

Unfortunately Argos do not deliver outside the UK, so any fans wanting this, who are outside the UK will need to get a friend in the UK to pick it up for them.

Power-Con/Thunder-Con now less than a week away!

The first ever convention jointly dedicated to both He-Man and ThunderCats returns again next saturday and promises to be bigger and better than last year! You can join the fun at the Torrance Marriott South Bay 3635 Fashion Way,Torrance, California 90503! The convention takes place saturday 22nd – sunday 23rd September.

ThunderCats related guests to look out for include:

-LARRY KENNEY

If you watch TV or listen to radio, you know his voice or more accurately, his voices. Larry Kenney famously brought life to Lion-O, Lord of the ThunderCats, from the original ThunderCats cartoon and voice of Claudius, Lion-O’s and Tygra’s Father, in the new ThunderCats series from Cartoon Network.

-KEVIN KLIESCH

Kevin Kliesch is the composer for the new ThunderCats series on Cartoon Network. His score has been nominated for for the Annie Award and GoldSpirit Award, and he himself was a GoldSpirit Award nominee for Breakout Composer of the Year.

-LYNNE LIPTON

Ms. Lipton is a talented film, stage, screen, and voice actress who worked on the original ThunderCats cartoon series. She brought one of the most popular ThunderCats alive, Cheetara, by providing her voice during the entire series run.

-JIM MESKIMEN

Jim Meskimen is a comedian and actor who is voicing Aburn, member of the Elephants race and ally of the ThunderCats, in the new ThunderCats series airing on Cartoon Network. As a man of many talents, he was also a conceptual artist and lead character designer for the original ThunderCats cartoon.

-MATTHEW MERCER

Matthew Mercer is a talented voice actor who currently brings the character of Tygra to life in the new ThunderCats cartoon series on Cartoon Network.

-PEPE MORENO

Pepe Moreno is a comic book artist, writer, and video game developer who served as the secondary character designer for the original ThunderCats series.

-PETER NEWMAN

Peter Newman is best known to ThunderCats fans for being the voice actor to bring the popular character Tygra to life in the original cartoon series. In addition to Tygra, he also provided the voices for Wilykat, Bengali, and Monkian.

-DAN NORTON

Dan Norton is the Art Director on the brand new ThunderCats series airing on Cartoon Network.

-GERRIANNE RAPHAEL

Gerrianne Raphael is an actress who provided the voices for Chilla, Pumyra, and Jaguara on the original ThunderCats cartoon series.

Exclusive 8″ Lion-O Figure by Bandai at Singapore Comic Convention!

Remember when Mumm-Ra transformed in an evil version of Lion-O in the classic series episode, Fond Memories?…. Well now is your chance to pick up a version of this in action figure form, as Bandai Asia will be releasing the red Lion-O variant at the Singapore Toys and Games Comic Covention taking place between 1st-2nd September 2012! The figure seems to be a repaint of the 8″ Bandai SDCC 2011 exclusive, but still a cool edition to anyone’s ThunderCats collection!

Following on from the news that Icon Heroes ThunderTank statue will be sold at SDCC in a fortnights time, AFX have also announced a second ThunderCats exclusive available at their booth (booth #3345), ThunderCats Minimates based off the classic 1980′s TV series!

Fleeing their dying homeworld, the THUNDERCATS have settled on Third Earth, a strange planet populated by fantastic creatures. LION-O, the Lord of the THUNDERCATS, will need the wisdom of his departed teacher JAGA, as well as the strength of his comrade PANTHRO, to keep his people safe. Especially since the evil sorceror MUMM-RA has his sights on Lion-O’s Sword of Omens, which contains the powerful Eye of Thundera. Classic ThunderCats Thundertank exclusive statue at SDCC!

The San Diego 2012 Comic Comvention will soon be upon us and Icon Heroes have announced that their ThunderTank statue will be sold exclusively at the convention, at the AFX booth (booth #3345). The statue can also be pre-ordered for pick up by visiting the AFX site.

The THUNDERTANK is regarded as one of the THUNDERCATS’ ultimate weapons, second only to the Sword of Omens. It is extremely versatile and maneuverable on a wide variety of terrains; and a continual work-in-progress with new weaponry and enhancements being added all the time.
