Posted by: Grizzlor

Paul Bennett, the sculptor of Hard Hero's Lion-O statue has indicated that he'll be starting work on Cheetara as the next character in the line. Hard Hero has received approval from Warner Brothers on the concept for Cheetara and her pose. Again, they've chosen a classic pose from the intro sequence! 8.10.2009 | Hard Hero adds nifty perk for early statue purchasers
Posted by: Grizzlor

Just had this news from Rob over at Hard Hero:
"Some good news! We are going to try and offer matching edition numbers on each character in the series to those purchasing the APs (Artist Proof version of the statues)! Just a way to show some appreciation for the collectors. Of course, we will need to ship those APs being signed to our studio first, then on to you. So just a few more days than the normal delivery. But worth it for those interested. Thanks again for the support." Read more about this our forums here

8.07.2009 | Update on Lion-O statue pre-order
Posted by: Grizzlor

Hard Hero has clarified the number of Artist Proofs. There are only 100 Artist Proofs total. When you order you can choose to have it signed or leave it unsigned by selecting the option on the bottom left of the screen (signed) or bottom right of the screen (unsigned). But there are only 100 Artist proofs available. This corrects the info we posted below.

8.06.2009 | Pre-Order Lion-O Statue Now!
Posted by: Manny

You can now pre-order the Lion-O Statue at Hard Hero's website. Lion-O will be the first in a line of ThunderCats statues from Hard Hero Enterprises. The statue, which will measure approximately 14" tall, is sculpted by Paul Bennett and will be released in the first quarter of 2010. In addition, the website also states that 200 statues will be made, of which 100 will be signed by Paul Bennett. We are not exactly sure whether 200 statues will be made total or if that is the amount available for pre-order at the Hard Hero website. The AP (Artist Proof) limited edition is being priced at $215 while the regular limited edition version will cost $199. Hard Hero has also posted official photos of the statue, including a 360 degree movie.

Visit the Hard Hero website for additional information on how to pre-order this item.

8.02.2009 | Exclusive Breaking News: ThunderCats Movie Put on Hold
Posted by: Manny

Last week, MovieLine released several pieces of concept artwork believed to be linked to the ThunderCats movie. We can officially confirm that those concept pieces are the real deal.

We have all been waiting a long time for an update to the ThunderCats movie and unfortunately, the news we have to share is not good. According to our sources close to the project, the movie has been put on hold. Here's what we know thus far:

Last summer (2008) the production team completed a two minute test sequence as well as a dozen concept art pieces which were presented to Warner executives. Jerry O'Flaherty, the director of the project was believed to present the work about six times to various executive groups within Warner Bros. including Jeff Robinov and Alan Horn.

In late September, Jerry O'Flaherty received word back from WB that the project had been "shelved" for now. The reasoning for shelving the project are unclear, however speculation is that the weak economy and poor box office earnings by Star Wars: The Clone Wars, another CGI-animated movie were the cause for putting the project on hold.

That being said, the concept artwork that was leaked last week through MovieLine showed the direction the project was heading and the creative design choices that could have made it into the actual film.

We also heard that the two minute test footage that was shown to the WB executives featured a fully constructed Slithe model.

This is definitely not the news we were hoping for. In any event, we do have a higher resolution image of the concept artwork of Lion-O to share with everyone.

Sad about the news? What did you think about the concept art? Discuss your thoughts and opinons on the forums!
